Rhinoplasty (Nose Job)

Rhinoplasty (Nose Job)

The nose is the most prominent feature of the face and can easily detract from your other facial features if it is not in harmony. Cosmetic nose surgery, or rhinoplasty, is designed to improve the nasal-facial proportions by altering the size and shape of your nose.

Rhinoplasty can refine your overall facial appearance by:

  •  Removing bumps or indention in the nasal bridge
  • Restructure the nasal bridge to correct asymmetry (crooked appearance)
  • Refining the shape, position or size of the nasal tip
  • Narrow the span of the nostrils
  • Reduce the overall size of the nose

Here in Poliklinika Mešter in Zadar, we believe that each patient’s face, as well as the reason they are considering a rhinoplasty, is unique and requires a personalized approach to address your concerns and provide the best possible outcome.

During your nose job consultation, our plastic surgeon, Ante Munitić, will consider multiple aspects of your nose while examining it, including symmetry, rotation of the tip, skin thickness, projection from the face, balance, size ratio, and breathing function. These aspects are taken into account with your unique goals to customize the procedure to ensure your new nose has a natural appearance while achieving facial harmony.

YOUR RHINOPLASTY – what awaits you?

Rhinoplasty is preceded by a routine preoperative analysis of the patient, which includes blood tests and medical examination. All tests are done in our clinic, during 1-2 days before your procedure.

Before the operation, we instruct our patients to stop using painkillers and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, containing acetyl-salicylic acid like Aspirin, Andol or Acisal, in case they usually take these.

This is very important factor in patient’s preparation for the surgery, as this way we prevent possible bleeding and haematoma during and after the procedure.

Nose reshaping surgery is done as an outpatient procedure that typically lasts one to three hours and is usually done under general anesthesia.

On the day of the operation, you stay in the clinic for approximately 5 hours. It takes about an hour for preoperative preparations, 1 hour for the operation and post-operative rest for next 3 to 4 hours. Once discharged from the surgery you will be taken to home care.

nose job recovery

Initial discomfort following your nose surgery is easily controlled with oral medication. A nasal cover (splint) is worn for the first week.

During that time, you will be under supervision of our medical team, so nothing is left to chance.

Most of the remaining swelling and bruising subsides progressively over two to four weeks. The semifinal result of a nose reshaping procedure is evident in three months. The final result is evident in 6-to-12 months.

You should plan a stay in Zadar for 7 days:

  •  Day 1: Medical examination, blood tests (if you arrive late afternoon, it is possible to move the blood tests for next morning because of our Laboratory working hours),
  • Day 2: The blood tests are followed by Anesthesia examination, and preparation for operation.
  • Day 3-7: Post-operative recovery. Regular checkups made by our doctor.
  • Day 4: The nasal packing needs to be removed from the nose on the third or fourth day after the operation
  • Day 7: The nose splint (cover) is removed, examination of your new nose.

Sick leave lasts 8 to 10 days for rhinoplasty. A week to ten days after the surgery, you can continue with your  regular activities.

However, for two months after the operation, you should avoid extensive physical activities that could result in injuries to the nose (for example, contact sports).
